Sunday, June 15 in the news.....

  • The Italian government has defended its decision to use soldiers to patrol cities in an effort to curb crime, rejecting criticism that it will 'militarise' the streets. The government just wants a presence there, and attacked those who disagreed by pointing to their performance in the second world war, saying The Wiggles may be more dangerous.

  • A Japanese tourist kidnapped by suspected bandits while traveling in southeastern Iran last year has been released. The sightseer was released on condition that he see someone about his stupidity.

  • Afghan President Hamid Karzai threatened Sunday to send Afghan troops across the border to fight militants in Pakistan. Pakistan shot back by saying that it would be foolish for Afghanistan to attack its former government's soldiers.
